French President Emmanuel Macron has said the coming days will be crucial to de-escalating the Ukraine standoff, as his German counterpart pledged to send more troops to Lithuania amid heightened tensions with Russia.
Macron, who travelled to Berlin on Friday for talks with Chancellor Olaf Scholz, said he believed a deal to avoid full-scale war in Ukraine was possible and that it was in the interests of all parties to find a diplomatic solution.
